With Deep Appreciation

goodbye

It’s hard to believe that after 25 years with the same company – and many of the same people – I am leaving.  As I swim through my last day here, I am sad, happy, scared, anxious and joyful – mostly joyful. It all seems so surreal.

A few days ago the clan at Coldwell Banker Mason Morse Real Estate threw a going away party for me.  Much to my relief, it wasn’t a formal teary-eyed affair.  It was linked to a scrumptious breakfast where I was showered with gifts and gas money (Yay!) and lots of hugs.  Yep, it’s going to  be hard to leave my comfortable family behind and venture off into the great unknown.

Back in 1992, I met longtime broker, Jeff Bier, in Redstone.  He invited me to join his crew at the Mason & Morse office in Carbondale.  I was a brand new broker and not sure if this was the gig for me, but my desire to try something new superseded my fears and I agreed to give it a try.

From day one, everyone in my new office offered support, advice and leadership.  Over time our family grew, and like most families we’ve buried a few also. Our logos and signs have changed, the office building morphed into a beautiful lodge, and the internet has become an indispensable tool  as the company continues to lead the way in the local and global real estate markets.

But at the very core, this assembly of fine professionals has guided me through some of the best – and worst – times of my life. For that, I am eternally grateful! (photo courtesy Rita Brooks, Potato Days in Carbondale)

  2. I cried this morning. The dog in the book I’m reading died and it tore at my heart. The fictional death was impetus to a sadness that sat just below the surface; for our political state, for changing climates, for senseless killing, for the loss of friends and pets. And I realized that a chunk of the sadness was for my dear friend, my favorite hiking and camping buddy, as you move into a dream fulfilled.

I will miss our quiet mornings in a campsite, sipping tea and sharing, reaching deep recesses and then finding the laughter that rights the emotions. You have been my compass in so many ways, a teacher and a confidant. Our trails will cross many times as our lives morph into this desire or that dream, but for now, I hold a tinge of sadness that I won’t be sharing a summer of hiking these mountains with you.

I am so proud of the shifts and choices you have made over the past few years, the ones that have led you to fulfilling you hearts desire. Happiest of travels my friend.
